Procedure:
- The thumbnail cache can be cleaned via the "Disc Cleanup" utility:
- Click on Start type "disc cleanup" in the search field and press Enter
- Select the drive on which your OS is installed (by default C:)
- Click on the Ok button and wait for the tool to index the files that require cleaning
- In the disk cleanup utility check the box next to "Thumbnails".
- Click on the OK button.
